Of His Own Choosing

As a very small child
You wooed me through teachers
Who had a heart for You.
I needed You as my Big Brother.

As a young girl
I chose to welcome You
Into my heart.
I needed You as my Protector.

As a young woman
I rededicated my life
And heart to You.
I needed You as my Savior.

As a woman
I began an intense journey
To know You, deeply, intimately.
I needed You as my Healer.

You chose me.
You revealed Your very heart
And Your love for me
Simply because You chose to.

Deuteronomy 7:8-9 – Prayer/Promise

But because the Lord loves you and because He would keep the oath which He had sworn to your fathers, the Lord has brought you out with a mighty hand and redeemed you out of the house of bondage, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt. Know, recognize, and understand therefore that the Lord your God, He is God, the faithful God, Who keeps covenant and steadfast love and mercy with those who love Him and keep His commandments, to a thousand generations,

Ephesians 1:4-6 – Prayer/Promise

Even as [in His love] He chose us [actually picked us out for Himself as His own] in Christ before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy (consecrated and set apart for Him) and blameless in His sight, even above reproach, before Him in love. For He foreordained us (destined us, planned in love for us) to be adopted (revealed) as His own children through Jesus Christ, in accordance with the purpose of His will [ because it pleased Him and was His kind intent] — [So that we might be] to the praise and the commendation of His glorious grace (favor and mercy), which He so freely bestowed on us in the Beloved.

1 John 4: 10, 15 – Prayer/Promise

In this is love:not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation (the atoning sacrifice) for our sins. Anyone who confesses (acknowledges, owns) that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides (lives, makes His home) in him and he [abides, lives, makes his home] in God.

About unabashedhope

The name Unabashed Hope comes from my favorite poem by Emily Dickinson. Unabashed means not embarrassed, disconcerted or ashamed. I believe Emily's poem, Hope is the Thing with Feathers, says it best: Hope is the thing with feathers That perches in the soul, And sings the tune without the words, And never stops at all, And sweetest in the gale is heard; And sore must be the storm That could abash the little bird That kept so many warm. I've heard it in the chilliest land And on the strangest sea; Yet, never, in extremity, It asked a crumb of me.
