When All Has Been Uttered

This present place
Is not about pressure.

It’s not about
Fixing my mess.

It’s not about
Formulating a plan.

It’s not about
Gritting my teeth
And trying harder.

Have I not thoroughly proven
That none of that works!

You would not bring me to this place
Only to have me kick it
Into high gear and try again.

This place is about
Learning something new.

Awakening to truth.
Discovering genuine peace.
Waiting on Your voice.
Placing myself in Your hands.

Is this what I really want?
I honestly believed I answered
Correctly seven years ago.
But I didn’t.

Help me to answer it right, now.
I will wait in Your presence.
And, that, is all I really want.

About unabashedhope

The name Unabashed Hope comes from my favorite poem by Emily Dickinson. Unabashed means not embarrassed, disconcerted or ashamed. I believe Emily's poem, Hope is the Thing with Feathers, says it best: Hope is the thing with feathers That perches in the soul, And sings the tune without the words, And never stops at all, And sweetest in the gale is heard; And sore must be the storm That could abash the little bird That kept so many warm. I've heard it in the chilliest land And on the strangest sea; Yet, never, in extremity, It asked a crumb of me.
