The Depths

The Depths

I can try to wish it away
Or I can choose to turn
And face it head on.

I am beginning to realize
That not all feelings
Are good feelings
But all feelings are good.
It sounds like an oxymoron.

But if I refuse to accept
The negative feelings
And block or deny them
I will never be free
To experience the good feelings.

Without pain there can be no joy.
This is difficult for me
To understand or grasp
But I am trusting You to show me.

Instruct me and allow me
To experience the full depth
Of all that is locked up
On the inside of me.

It is time.
And there is strength
Buried deep within me.
I am a survivor!
I am a victor!

About unabashedhope

The name Unabashed Hope comes from my favorite poem by Emily Dickinson. Unabashed means not embarrassed, disconcerted or ashamed. I believe Emily's poem, Hope is the Thing with Feathers, says it best: Hope is the thing with feathers That perches in the soul, And sings the tune without the words, And never stops at all, And sweetest in the gale is heard; And sore must be the storm That could abash the little bird That kept so many warm. I've heard it in the chilliest land And on the strangest sea; Yet, never, in extremity, It asked a crumb of me.
