Learning to Fly

Learning to Fly

Help me to find the way
To give full expression
To the feelings and emotions
That have too long been
Locked up tight within
The core of my being.

I am learning but I have
Much left to discover.
The temptation to only go
Part of the way through
Is every present with me.

Help me to fully connect
With the depths of each memory
So that I can fully deal with it,
Pray through it, and be loosed
From its vise-like grip.

Help me to speak my mind
In current situations and issues
In ways that are conducive
To healing and strengthening
Of relationships rather
Than damaging them.

I want to soar up high
With You as the Eagle soars.
I want to fly!

About unabashedhope

The name Unabashed Hope comes from my favorite poem by Emily Dickinson. Unabashed means not embarrassed, disconcerted or ashamed. I believe Emily's poem, Hope is the Thing with Feathers, says it best: Hope is the thing with feathers That perches in the soul, And sings the tune without the words, And never stops at all, And sweetest in the gale is heard; And sore must be the storm That could abash the little bird That kept so many warm. I've heard it in the chilliest land And on the strangest sea; Yet, never, in extremity, It asked a crumb of me.
