Echoes

Who are you?

You are the voices from my past.
You are the experiences from my past.
You are the fears from my past.

You are the voices of my present.
You are the experiences of my present.
You are the fears of my present.

You are the enemy.
You work by speaking to my head.
You work through the weakness’ and prejudices of others.
You work through my own weakness’ and prejudices.

My declaration.

You do not own me.
You do not control me.
You do not manipulate me.
You do not have power over me.

You will not own me.
You will not have control over me.
You will not manipulate me.
You will not have power over me.

I’m gone.
This is my life.
And I will live it
And live it well!

About unabashedhope

The name Unabashed Hope comes from my favorite poem by Emily Dickinson. Unabashed means not embarrassed, disconcerted or ashamed. I believe Emily's poem, Hope is the Thing with Feathers, says it best: Hope is the thing with feathers That perches in the soul, And sings the tune without the words, And never stops at all, And sweetest in the gale is heard; And sore must be the storm That could abash the little bird That kept so many warm. I've heard it in the chilliest land And on the strangest sea; Yet, never, in extremity, It asked a crumb of me.
